"STRAFFR" is a fitness brand that originated from the personal experience of its founders, Stefan, Torben, and Hanno. Stefan, a former competitive athlete, sought a balance between his busy work life and extensive travel. Dissatisfied with existing fitness apps, he turned to using a Theraband. This led to the idea of transforming the traditional elastic band into a smart fitness tool.
The founders, with backgrounds in sports, engineering, and industrial design, collaborated to create the first working prototype. After quitting their jobs, they founded STRAFFR and embarked on an extensive development process, producing over 100 prototypes for testing. The positive feedback from testers helped refine the product.
To fund the initial production, the team launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, successfully reaching their goal. They also appeared on the TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen" (DHDL), where they presented their working prototype, although they did not secure an investment.
The brand faced challenges post-DHDL, dealing with a surge in pre-orders and unexpected production delays. Communication with customers was prioritized, and the team worked diligently to overcome supplier issues. Ultimately, they successfully mass-produced STRAFFR, and the fitness band, along with its accompanying app, is now used by users in over 30 countries. The founders continue to receive positive feedback and are committed to ongoing improvements to the STRAFFR product.
